Supporting More with Less – Increasing Efficiency to Provide More Standby Power
The consumer electronics market is being squeezed. Power saving mandates from regulatory agencies, coupled with increased functionality requirements, mean that the engineer must do more with a shrinking power budget. The addition of IoT to consumer and (increasingly) industrial applications has added another quiescent load to the designer’s burden.
In this presentation, we will look at how technologies are helping increase efficiency to liberate more power, both in normal operation and crucially during standby for both isolated and non-isolated applications. Switching algorithms, conversion topologies and techniques for improving efficiency will be reviewed in order to liberate additional power for additional functions.
Attendees will learn:
- Control schemes to increase efficiency across load
- Minimizing standby power consumption
- High efficiency buck conversion from wide-input range applications
- Update on regulatory standards driving the need for better power conversion
