Digital oscilloscope low noise measurements on switched mode power supplies
Switched mode power supplies have become ubiquitous in electronics as they provide precise voltages at high power with very high efficiency. The efficiency of these power supplies requires low loss power transistors and the design of these power supplies requires measurement of highly dynamic voltages across these switching transistors. The range of these voltages can be hundreds of volts in some applications. In this webinar, the proper use of a digital oscilloscope to accurately measure these voltages will be discussed along with key aspects of instrument performance such as noise and overdrive recovery that affect the accuracy of the measurement. Mike Schnecker has a BS from Lehigh University and an MS from Georgia Tech both in electrical engineering. He has 22 years of experience in the test and measurement industry in applications, sales and product development roles and has specialized in signal integrity applications including jitter using oscillosocpes and other instruments. Prior to joining Rohde & Schwarz, Mr. Schnecker held positions at LeCroy and Tektronix. While at LeCroy, he was responsible for the deployment of the SDA series of serial data analyzers.
