Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology allows cars to communicate with other vehicles, infrastructure, and vulnerable road users to increase driver safety and smooth out the autonomous driving experience. The proposed changes on the 5.9 GHz band (reserved for DSRC and now mostly being allocated for commercial use) by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) would impact the roll-out of V2X —and thus put the safety of millions of road users at stake.

This webinar will cover which V2X technology should be chosen: WiFi or cellular-based (also known as DSRC or LTE-V2X / 5G-V2X).  Also, the pros and cons of each, and which one has the highest record in field testing, considering the number of their deployments.

Attendees will learn:

  • The differences between LTE-V2X / 5G-V2X for vehicle safety communication
  • Implications and tradeoffs of the proposed changes to the 5.9 GHz band by the FCC.
  • The Portfolio offering from NXP for a complete V2X system
