power within the system design budget is becoming
as important as meeting the performance specification of the system design. Managing system power within the budget also has a significant impact on maintaining overall system reliability.


This paper offers design tips on changes that can be made to the field programmable gate array (FPGA) environment, features, and tool options to optimize the system design power consumption, thus reducing thermal and power component cost, as well as increasing overall system reliability.
