This paper looks at trends in video and image processing that are forcing developers to re-examine architectures they have used in the past. Tradeoffs of different architectures are discussed, as well as details and benchmarks for Altera’s new solutions in this area.

The inquiry demonstrates that FPGAs are a great solution for a range of video and image processing applications, such as broadcast infrastructure, medical imaging, HD videoconferencing, video surveillance, and military imaging.
