Site Scan is a reliable, scalable method that makes it possible for the operations and maintenance center to verify base station connectivity remotely—and reduce the cost of network operations. An electronic process, Site Scan can be initiated automatically and performed without affecting tower operations. Site Scan gathers connectivity information; detects improper or inconsistent connections; and flags irregularities for further diagnostics. By detecting damage over time, there is less need for periodic visits to the tower for preventive maintenance. This paper describes how primary and secondary devices support Site Scan, and outlines the scanning sequence used to trace connections, and diagnose and debug issues.
