The CC430 family of ultra-low-power microcontroller system-on-chip (SoCs) with an integrated sub 1 GHz RF transceiver consists of several devices featuring different sets of peripherals targeted for a wide range of applications. The architecture, combined with five low-power modes, is optimized to maximize battery life and enable wireless connectivity in battery-powered applications. The family features the powerful MSP430 16-bit RISC CPU with 16-bit registers and constant generators that contribute to maximum code efficiency. This report outlines how power consumption can be reduced in low power RF applications by using a DC-DC converter.
