Identifying the highest performance FPGA products has historically been a subjective and parametric benchmarking process. But beginning with 14 nm Tri-Gate technology, the highest performance FPGAs will simply be the ones built on demonstrably superior transistor technology. This white paper examines the impact of transistor design transitions in the semiconductor manufacturing industry from traditional planar to 3-D structures, and how it will provide a significant boost in high-performance programmable logic speed, power, and production availability.
