USB Type-C is the next leap forward in USB technology and is positioned to become the standard of choice for consumer electronic devices. By consolidating Type-A, Type-B, Mini, Micro, and other USB connections into a single standard, USB Type-C is going to dramatically simplify the connection conundrum. This paper discusses the design complexities that come with designing for USB Type-C, terminology and subtleties that come with the new standard, and methods for implementing USB Type-C effectively and efficiently.
