Low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) has been used widely in high-speed digital signal interconnections. One of popular bus topologies is to connect multiple LVDS receivers to a 100Ω differential twisted pair driven by a LVDS transmitter, which is called the multidrop LVDS bus. The AC-coupling method is often used in the multidrop bus. In this application note, we will examine the weakness of the current fail-safe biasing circuit of the multidrop bus due to the component variation, and propose a robust circuit structure for the fail-safe biasing.
