For long distance or inter-continental communication, Satellite Communication plays a very important role for both analog as well as for the digital signal. Many efforts have been made to improve the performance. The need for the integrated and reconfigurable communication has given rise to the concept of Software Radios. To this end, reconfigurability has become an important issue for the future design. In this paper, we present the simulation of a reconfigurable satellite communication system using the software ‘System View’. The interfacing of System View with Matlab is exploited to incorporate the reconfigurable aspect in the satellite communication system. In actual satellite system, the hardware blocks like up/down converter, bandpass filter, and amplifier can be reconfigured by means of the software downloaded for the specific purpose.
