The car of the future must not only support connections for a variety of portable electronic devices, but also enable consumers to connect to the Internet, home networks, the office, other cars, and even to roadside infrastructure. As the automobile becomes a “first class citizen of the cloud,” the in-vehicle infotainment system becomes an application platform that can be dynamically updated with new software features and applications in a reliable and secure manner. This paper looks at how to quickly develop in-vehicle systems with a high level of functionality and reliability while dramatically improving the software development process with an integrated set of software solutions and services.
