While Digital Rights Management (DRM) effectively protects content from unlicensed usage, there is a concern among users about how DRM mechanisms will affect playback and ease of use.

Even before considering whether or not to support DRM, however, OEMs of digital media players must understand the barriers to implementing efficient DRM. This paper discusses the most common barriers to DRM implementation and the methods of mitigating its impact on digital media players, so that OEMS can eliminate the uncertainty and fear surrounding DRM, and instead focus on the most effective approach to implementing it.
