Driven by increasingly sophisticated applications and smaller process geometries, chip designs continue to grow more complex. This complexity is creating a relentless need for greater innovation in simulation technologies. At advanced nodes, design engineers must address increasing parasitics and low-power circuit structures. The FastSPICE technology that has worked so well is no longer effective. However, new simulation algorithms have emerged to address challenges in circuit architecture, parasitics, and variation, providing FastSPICE simulation capabilities that deliver differentiated performance and more capacity on new technologies. This paper discusses new FastSPICE technology, plus overall requirements for simulators to support the rapid adoption that is also important.
