Multicast Video in Non-QoS Networks
Multicast techniques are the only way to simultaneously provide flows of information from one source to several desinations. This paper examines the feasibility of multicast techniques for video transmission over best effort networks using a videocoder based on an adaptive video compression algorithm with a 3-D sub-band coding. The best effort network services used are Available Bit Rate (ABR) over Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) and Internet services over IP (TCP/IP architecture). The results of a simulation are discussed.
