Mobile applications in 3G networks are already taking advantage of advanced handsets, high speed wireless Internet access, and integration with the functionality offered by cellular mobile networks. And video content access will play an increasingly more prominent role in the user’s mobile experience, establishing the usage of communications, entertainment, and information access in high definition quality as table stakes. As mobile data speeds increase video, applications will increase in video resolution and mobile devices will begin to displace dedicated video devices and traditional, fixed line broadband video distribution. The higher speed mobile networks such as LTE and WiMAX will contribute substantially to improving the video application’s throughput and responsiveness, significantly enhancing a user’s mobile video experience, and enable greater demand for applications such as interactive TV, video mail, video conferencing, etc.
