One of the most important stages of getting a product from design to manufacturing is New Product Introduction, or NPI. This paper examines a more efficient approach to the New Product Introduction flow, identifying ways to streamline the various steps, improving both time to market and realizing significant cost savings, especially with respect to Process Preparation. A typical New Product Introduction flow that has been compiled through our experience of talking with customers over many years and how that compares with Mentor’s Best Practice NPI flow is also reviewed.
