OEMs and ODMs in the consumer space are constantly challenged by an OS migration strategy as well as how to migrate legacy applications that have been very often well tested and certified for a legacy OS. Whatever the drivers are: Feature Enrichment at Low Cost, Bill of Material Reduction through Single DSP Architecture, or Smooth & Seamless Integration with & Evolution to Linux these can quickly become a true roadblock. This talk describes how customers can evolve, or migrate from one OS platform to another by using virtualization and hardware partitioning technology, which allows embedded products to run heterogeneous OS and applica-tions efficiently and safely on the same hardware.
