High-Power White-LED Driver Operates on 1 or 2 Alkaline Cells
A white-LED driver based on a DC-DC step-up converter operates on one or two alkaline cells, and starts with voltages as low as 0.8V. Replacing incandescent bulbs with high-power white LEDs yields higher reliability and greater luminous efficiency. This application note describes a single-IC driver for white LEDs that delivers up to 1A from one or two alkaline cells. A controller for inductive step-up converters, the IC includes the necessary power switches.
