This paper presents a fast and accurate path for converting a standard working MATLAB model into a DSP-ready fixed-point model within MATLAB. The conversion process is detailed internal variables are converted to fixed-point, variables are checked against each other for consistency, and floating-point functions may be replaced with fixed-point equivalents. The resulting bit accurate MATLAB model will be tested and verified using the original MATLAB model. Methods for increasing the simulation speed of fixed-point MATLAB models will be presented.
