Electronic System Level (ESL) design that incorporates C-based design, modeling and synthesis is now deployed in standard industrial design flows. It enables the development of complex electronic products and accelerates the software algorithms that are increasingly pervasive in the modern economy. This paper presents a backgrounder to the ESL market, the challenges tackled by ESL
design, the state-of-the-art for ESL design and a brief summary of Celoxica’s technology approach and ESL design solutions. Particular reference is made to the behavioral design and synthesis of C-based algorithms in custom silicon devices, such as Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), Structured ASIC and System on Chip (SoC).
