Recent trends in consumer electronics point strongly toward the increasing emergence of the entertainment personal computer. This device is virtually identical to the systems that so many of us have on our desktops except that it is not a word processor, it can’t do spread sheets. These PCs or embedded PCs are intended to look like a component that is placed in a home theater or entertainment system and the functionality of these devices are narrowly focused. For a post PC-era convergence product, these PCs will focus on handling multimedia functions such as TV, video, music and photos. The media PC will be competing with traditional consumer electronics products.
