Embedding a CPU with a high resolution delta-sigma 24-bit ADC, and many peripherals for high precision data acquisition has two major issues: 1) integrating the ADC efficiently with the CPU, 2) maintaining the analog performance, since the digital noise generated by CPU and the peripheral is orders of magnitude higher than the ADC resolution. This article shows: 1) The process of defining an integrated system, 2) The building blocks of a high-resolution delta-sigma 24bit ADC, 3) Silicon level noise interactions and methods to reduce interference, 4) System level methods to reduce interference.
