By enhancing an embedded application with VoIP, one can add new features, such as consolidating data and voice communication with an information kiosk, or offering live tech support from an Internet appliance with the press of a button. A basic understanding of VoIP and H.323 is all that is required to begin evaluating endpoint to endpoint, embedded applications. In this paper, after an extensive discussion of hardware and software requirements, a number of design options are presented for voice-enabling new and existing applications.
