The global market for mobile video is expanding rapidly. Mobile phones are expanding in function to absorb the personal digital assistants (PDAs), music players (MP3), FM Radios, and recently, mobile navigation systems: Assisted Global Positioning System (A-GPS). From a socioeconomic viewpoint, we live increasingly hectic lives; we expect to receive our phone calls, SMS and MMS messages and email where ever we are. Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld (DVB-H) moves to the next horizon in high bandwidth mobile data services, spectrally efficient and highly robust broadcast of up to 15 Mbit/s to your phone containing live video, music and data. This paper explores the DVB-H and its impact on today’s communication devices.
