Design Approaches Impact GPGPU Implementation
GE Intelligent Platforms has implemented a family of rugged products that exploit General Purpose computing on Graphics Processing Units (GPGPU). Across applications as diverse as RADAR, pattern recognition, object detection and cryptography, customers report performance increases of between 10 and 500x. Using a GPU to augment the capability of a traditional CPU can therefore bring real size, weight and power (SWaP) advantages to high-end processing systems. In addition to GPGPU for massively parallel computing, the products also include increasingly powerful graphics technologies that support exceptional realism in high-end graphics solutions such as embedded training.
