Because a comprehensive theory is yet to be established for standardizing color in medical imaging, differences in colors reproduced by various displays pose the risk of erroneous medical diagnoses. There are, of course, partial solutions, which this paper addresses — namely, color management technology and multispectral imaging. However, the paper also introduces a more promising solution still under development, in which a set of typical medical images lined up with corresponding diagnoses is used as a practical calibrator for common display equipment.
