Advances in wireless technologies are rapidly enabling new services and attractive business opportunities for content providers, carriers, and mobile device manufacturers. Today’s mobile devices provide computing power that was only available in high-end PCs less than a decade ago. However, with advanced technology capabilities comes increased complexity, leading to security vulnerabilities that put data, communications and premium content at risk. While the market sees tremendous potential in distributing premium content, content providers are reluctant to participate in this opportunity, sighting the potential for massive revenue losses due to theft, piracy and illegal distribution. These considerations highlight the need for facilitating the inclusion of strong security in applications and services being designed for today’s mobile devices.
