Many embedded systems today are essentially embedded PCs. The BIOS in these systems usually requires modifications. This paper will provide managers and engineers with a primer to what’s involved with adapting a BIOS for an embedded system – when to start considering BIOS changes, what’s easy to do and what may not be, how to get started and where to look for help with modifying a System BIOS. Addressing these issues at the right time during a project will save time and usually dollars by the time the project is complete.
