Application of the Fractional Fourier Transform for Computing the Radiation Pattern of a Sonar Array
This paper presents numerical calculation methods of computing the far-field directivity pattern for radiators with the fast Fourier transform algorithm. The computation technique outlined is designed to determine far-field characteristics of underwater sound transducers from measurements made in the near field of the transducers. This calculation method is applicable to the characterization of transient signals of any form through use of the acoustic energy flux.
