A New Role for DDR DRAM in Consumer Electronics
In this article, double-data-rate (DDR) DRAM memory systems will be discussed in the context of consumer electronics, with an emphasis on the need for a multi-disciplined, system-level approach to development. A brief look of relevant market pressures are followed by a review of key issues in DDR memory
system development, including device selection, controller and PHY design, and system integration. This article concludes with an example of commercially available solutions that address the key issues.
