A Guide to Choosing the Right Ultra-Low IQ, Low Dropout Linear Voltage Regulators
Low Dropout Linear Voltage Regulators (LDOs) are commonly used to minimize power consumption in electronic applications, but lowering current consumption with an LDO often means sacrificing dynamic performance and stable, noise-free voltage rail, making them unsuitable for sensitive circuits. This application note discusses the tradeoffs between achieving low IQ and good dynamic performance when choosing an LDO, and presents techniques for achieving an acceptable balance.
