A complimentary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) sensor design using 0.25µm technology is presented. This design is targeted for use in mobile devices such as cellular phones or PDAs. The sensor integrates a CIF resolution imager array, programmable gain and offset circuits, 10-bit ADC, sensor timing control, image processing, and real-time JPEG compression units. An embedded programmable core serves as the main control unit of the device, controlling all other units via a single control bus.
