Wirewound chip inductor claims industry first 1-amp rating in 1210 case size

Addressing the need for smaller power inductors in space-constrained DC/DC converter choke coil applications, Taiyo Yuden (U.S.A.), Inc. claims its new CBC3225-4R7MR device is the industry’s first wirewound chip inductor with a 1,000 mA (1A) current rating in an EIA standard 1210 case size. The new 4.7 microfarad (μF) device also provides a 70% surface-area reduction compared to 1-A class power inductors used in DC/DC converter choke coils for battery-powered portable devices.
