Quad regulator drives automotive-grade applications

Worcester, Mass. – Allegro MicroSystems’ automotive-grade quad-output regulator IC, the A8450, comprises two low-voltage outputs (external pass transistors required) that provide DSP or microprocessor core and I/O voltages, and two linear 5-volt regulators that track within 0.5 percent over temperature for driving sensors and other peripherals. Both 5-volt outputs feature current foldback circuitry to protect against short-to-ground events. The A8450 incorporates controlled power-up sequencing and power-on-reset (POR) functionality, as well as fault detection and reporting.
