New advanced memory devices targeted at notebooks, graphics

In Infineon Technologies’ latest push into the graphics and notebook space, designers are reminded once again that the company continues to be the only memory vendor to package a select number of modules using dual-die technology. Just one month after it began sampling the industry’s first dual-die based 4-Gigabyte (GB) DDR2 registered dual inline memory modules (DIMM) for server applications, the company has developed a 2-GB SO-DIMM featuring a dual-die package. Along with that product announcement, the company unveiled three more devices — a 1-GB DDR2 Micro-DIMM for subnotebooks, and two memory parts that provide high-performance graphics.
