Elpida launches 512-Mbit XDR DRAM for digital consumer applications

Aimed at the digital consumer electronics market, Elpida Memory Inc. is sampling a 512-Mbit XDR DRAM that operates at 3.2-GHz and provides a data transfer rate of 6.4 Gbytes/s. XDR DRAM, the memory architecture developed by Rambus Inc., is being touted as the next-generation memory for applications that require high bandwidth to support high-end graphics, digital imaging and advanced multimedia.
