Charger ICs for cameras and handhelds are package perfect

Santa Clara, Calif. – Emphasizing the industry’s smallest packages for circuits of their type, National Semiconductor says its two new battery-charger products, one a single-cell USB/AC charger and the other a charge control and protection circuit for embedded lithium-ion/polymer batteries, greatly ease integration into cellular phones, digital still cameras, MP3 players, personal digital assistants (PDAs) and handheld instrumentation. These devices, which require few external components, deliver up to 1.2 amps.
