Buck regulator is the most compact

Milpitas, Calif. – Sipex Corporation’s SP7653, the newest addition to the company’s PowerBlox series of ultraminiature buck regulator ICs, runs at the highest switching frequency in the family to cut overall real-estate requirements by 60 to 70 percent (thanks to a much smaller inductor) compared to its closest family member. The chip, in a 4-by-7 mm DFN package and working at 1.3 MHz, delivers 3 amps at output voltages down to 0.8 volt for applications such as cable and DSL modems.
