Overview of Brushless DC (BLDC) Motor Control
This webcast will introduce the fundamental concepts behind brushless DC motors (BLDCs) and associated signal chain design. With an understanding of hardware, we will detail the three main commutation strategies and relate these back to signal chain requirements. From this we will discuss how careful part selection can accelerate system designs and briefly mention some future algorithms and improvements in the field.

Chas Frick, Systems Application Engineer, Analog Devices
Chas Frick received two bachelors degrees in electrical and computer engineering, and robotics engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. After graduating, he started full time as a system applications engineer in the Aerospace and Defense group of Analog Devices in Greensboro, NC in July of 2016. He works primarily on software development for embedded applications and also on embedded hardware development. When not working he enjoys roller skating, mentoring on a local FIRST robotics team and rock climbing.
