As automobiles continue to add an increasing number of electronic systems to enhance safety, comfort, efficiency and performance while minimizing harmful exhaust emissions, it comes as no surprise they require smaller power solutions with higher power levels. Additionally, with the proliferation of more EMI-sensitive systems within the vehicle, reducing EMI emissions from switching power supplies is of paramount importance, thereby creating more challenges for switching regulator IC design. The LT8640 joins our growing family of ultralow quiescent current high voltage monolithic synchronous buck regulators. Its inherent ultralow EMI/EMC emissions, coupled with spread spectrum capabilities, allows it to comfortably meet CISPR25 class 5 radiated emissions requirements for automotive environments.
