This paper presents design information for using a standard, low-cost, power factor correction (PFC) controller to construct a high-efficiency transition-mode (TM) bridgeless-PFC power supply. Driven by the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance's 80 PLUS program, computer power-supply manufacturers are eager to investigate ways to improve converter efficiency.
