The concept of "waived" DRC results, representing errors that are acknowledged and intentionally ignored going into IC manufacturing, has been around for some time. Due to an increase in the rule complexity and an increase in the amount of reusable layout IP incorporated into a design along with the introduction of recommended rules, there has been a dramatic increase in the amount of waived results for nanometer processes.

There have been several approaches employed over the years to automate the elimination of waived or false violations from DRC results, in an effort to reduce debug time. Unfortunately, all of these approaches have fallen short of ideal due to complexity of use or because of the risk of accidentally waiving a real error.

The Auto-Waiver technology significantly reduces the complexity of waiving false errors without the issues and limitations of historic approaches. In this session, the Auto-Waiver approach for Calibre DRC will be presented.

What You Will Learn
  • How Auto-Waivers compares to historic approaches
  • How to generate waivers with Auto-Waivers
  • How to eliminate display of waived results with Auto-Waivers
  • How to validate and review all waived results
Who Should View
