Practical Tips for 10 Gbps Eye Pattern Measurements
Overview:
This Webinar is designed as an introduction to eye pattern measurements. Topics include basic eye diagram definitions, popular setups for electrical and optical measurements, practical tips to ensure accurate results, and examination of a few real-world impairments. To illustrate concepts, side-by-side measurements showing before and after effects will be discussed. The goal is to better understand how to measure and quantify the causes of eye closure in higher data rate signals that eventually cause Bit-Error-Rate (BER) problems.

Who should attend:
Engineers and technicians involved in the design and manufacture of high-speed transmitters (e.g., XFP/SFP/SFP+ transceivers) and backplane characterization. In addition, field engineers involved in the installation, deployment, and maintenance of high speed networks, such as OC-192/STM-64 SONET/SDH, 8G Fibre Channel, and 10G Ethernet.

Presenter:
David Vondran is Product Marketing Manager for handheld and bench microwave & communications instrumentation at the Anritsu Company in Morgan Hill, CA. His expertise at Anritsu includes 11 years of global technical marketing and numerous successful product introductions, across a variety of products; vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and eye pattern analyzers.

He has held previous engineering positions at California Microwave, Pacific Monolithics, Watkins-Johnson, and Rockwell International. David received his BSEE from the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, CA.
