New bench-top test technique to ensure that mobile phone designs work on real networks
Overview:
Mobile phone designs are more complex than ever before. New phone services employ high speed data, voice, and video, and operate using new technology standards including W-CDMA, HSPA, and WLAN. These new services, combined with cameras, MP3 players, FM receivers, GPS, speaker phones, and highly complex operating systems create a big concern for engineers responsible for validating the performance of a device before its release to a network. Conventional validation test and conformance test is not sufficient for identifying problems that will show up when devices are used on real networks. Learn about a new technique to find design issues early in the design process and on the bench-top. The technique involves stressing mobile devices in executing multiple and simultaneous, real-time, real-world user applications and network operations to identify design problems that would only show up when mobiles are used in mass on live networks. The result of finding these problems early is short design cycle times, and fast time to market.
