Before CMP, he spent six years as the editor-in-chief of Portable Design magazine, raising the quality of the editorial while launching a magazine and technical conference in China. Richard also previously served as a technology editor with Electronic Design magazine.

Jack Ganssle

Dan Saks is one of the world's leading experts on the C and C++ programming languages and their use in developing embedded systems. In addition to contributing to ESD, he provides training and consulting services through his company, Saks & Associates. An author, teacher, and lecturer, Dan also served for many years as secretary of the ANSI and ISO C++ standards committee and also served on the ANSI C committee.

Michael Barr

Michael Barr is the president of Netrino, LLC. Software he's written helps run millions of products worldwide, including everything from consumer electronics to physical therapy equipment. Through Netrino, which he founded, Michael Barr provides engineering training, design advice, and other consulting services.
Michael Barr is an acknowledged expert on the embedded systems industry. He has been interviewed on the PBS program American Business Review and quoted in various newspapers on this subject. He also consults regularly with financial analysts, startup companies, and venture capitalists. In addition, he has been certified as an expert witness in several circuits of the federal U.S. District Court. Previously Michael Barr served as the editor-in-chief of Embedded Systems Design magazine and is now a contributing technical editor.

Joel Sumner
Senior Product Strategist, National Instruments
Joel Sumner, senior product strategist at National Instruments, has spent much of his career leading teams creating advanced embedded development tools. Joel began his career at Motorola Semiconductor writing microcode for its popular QUICC processor line. Prior to joining NI he also lead development teams at Metrowerks, creating embedded tools for several game consoles, including the Nintendo 64 and the multiprocessor Sony PlayStation 2. Since joining NI in 1999 on the LabVIEW performance team, Joel has helped guide the development of high-level graphical system design tools for embedded single-board computers, custom microcontroller and digital signal processing boards, FPGA boards, and the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® platform. Joel holds a bachelors of science in electrical engineering from Cornell University.
