Jim Castelaz
Adura Systems

The chief architect of startup Adura Systems, which recently emerged from stealth mode, details the company's new Modular Electronic Scalable Architecture. Adura claims its MESA approach provides the automotive industry with a new level of scalability and modularity in the development of all-electric vehicles. The company is focusing its technology on the mass-transit bus and heavy utility vehicle markets. A Chinese automotive authority will begin testing the approach this year. The company also claims that its MESA approach can increase the range of electric vehicles up to 100 miles. The power train is focused on electrical rather than mechanical interfaces to maximize electrical power control. Power control also represents the most critical and complex aspect of electric power trains, Castelaz notes.
