This paper highlights some of the challenges faced by developers of multimedia for embedded devices, including integration complexity, portability across platforms, and interoperability of components from multiple sources. In addition, the paper discusses how multimedia software frameworks have emerged to address these challenges, and introduces Mentor's own solution: the Nucleus Multimedia Framework.
