Driven by the constant search for energy-saving devices, induction cookers, already a trend in Europe, are gaining popularity in the rest of the world. These kitchen devices are popular for their high efficiency, which reduces cooking time and increases user safety, as it does not use flames or fire for cooking.

This paper discusses two typical induction cooker design circuits: the Half Bridge Series Resonant and the Quasi-resonant Topology. The merits and disadvantages of these two high frequency inverter topologies—along with three gate driver circuits, discrete transistors, optocoupler integrated circuits, and transformers for high frequency operation—are outlined.
