Onboard electronics is the most rapidly expanding portion in today's vehicles, and software is a major part of those electronics. This paper explains a development process for networked electronic control systems for the automotive industry. The process can reduce the time it takes to get an electronic control system to market, while improving quality. This is achieved by utilizing simulation, rapid prototyping, and production quality code generation to the best advantage.
